Let's talk robotics with Alan Jones
Joining me in today’s episode (48) of “Let’s talk robotics” is Alan Jones. Alan is a startup founder coach and tech startup angel investor based in Sydney. He has advised hundreds of Australian startups and invested in many of the best.
Alan was an early investor in Australian tech startup icons Pollenizer, Startmate and Blackbird Ventures, and recently paused raising a pre-seed and seed-stage fund, M8 Ventures, with Emily Rich.
He’s been an active investor here and in the US, with investments including Ananas, Bugcrowd, Bugherd, Buzzy, Biteable, Bridge, Canva, Cardly, Elevio, GeoSnapshot, GiggedIn, Good Empire, HappyCo, HowAboutEat, Macropod, Muru Music, Muso, OtherLevels, Propeller Aero, ResusRight, Squirrel Street, Tech Gym, Tiliter, TopMe, Tyde, Tzukuri, Workyard, UpGuard and Upperstory.
Alan has coached startup founders in programs for Atto, BlueChilli, Catalysr, Collider, CyRise, Monash University, Moonshot, muru-D, NZ ScaleUp, Remarkable, Startmate, Sydney School of Entrepreneurship and UTS.
He’s the chair of Catalysr, an entrepreneurship program focused on marginalised migrants and refugees. He’s also a regular conference speaker, technology guest for News Tonight on ABC2 and has been a contributor to AFR, The Australian, InnovationAus, SmartCompany and StartupDaily.
Alan’s service agency for startups, The New Agency, was acquired by BlueChilli in 2012. Previously, he was co-founder and Head of Product for HomeScreen Entertainment and Product Director, South Asia for Yahoo!, Inc.
Alan is currently the third highest-ranked Australian athlete in international hide and seek competition.
